Comprehensive Rehabilitation & Pain Specialists, P.C.
Jessica Fuller-Hines, M.D.
Dr. Hines knew that she wanted to be a physician since she was a very small child. She chose Rehabilitation Medicine because she believes that this field represents her ideals. She believes that a doctor is someone who looks at the whole person, not just one part of the body, and does the best to not only add years to the patients’ lives, but life to their years. Dr. Hines completed her undergraduate education at Florida A&M University, medical school at Thomas Jefferson University, and residency training at Temple University Hospital, both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (her former hometown). She enjoys performing appropriate injections and electrodiagnostic testing. Dr. Hines now calls Elizabeth City her home and is excited to work with anyone who wants to improve their quality of their life. She knows this will require working partnership with her patients and feels the rewards are well worth the effort.
Jessica H. Gorr, D.O., F.A.A.P.M.R.
Dr. Gorr chose PM&R for the diversity of the specialty and its emphasis on the "holistic approach" to patient care. As an Osteopath, she feels the best approach to health and well- being should be comprehensive and encompass life- style changes and mind- body connection. Dr. Gorr graduated from Temple University with a B.S. in Biology, received her Master of Science and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degrees from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Residency in PM&R at Temple University Hospital, like Dr. Hines. Dr. Gorr is Board Certified in PM&R and specializes in spine diseases, sports medicine and electrodiagnostic studies. She also participates in Worker’s Compensation. Dr. Gorr lives in the Outer Banks and hopes to have a satellite office near her home in the future. She looks forward to helping her patients achieve their functional goals and manage their disability as best they can.
How can a Rehabilitation Doctor
(Physiatrist) help me?
As
Rehabilitation Physicians, we are focused on treating the entire person to
improve their quality of life. Perhaps you are having difficulty working or
can’t go to your grandchild’s game because of your pain. Maybe you are
unable to do grocery shopping or are worried about crossing large streets
because you are afraid of falling.
Your
doctor may refer you to see us if you have pain or weakness that is interfering
with your daily life. We treat people who have pain, such as in their back,
neck, knee, hip, or shoulder before or after surgery.
We also treat people with injuries on their jobs, those with weakness
from a stroke or some nerve injury, and even those who have had amputations or
spinal cord injuries. In essence, we
do our best to help those who are not enjoying the quality of their lives
because of pain or significant limitations in their daily functioning.
What types of services do you offer?
We
utilize a comprehensive approach using medications, physical and occupational
therapy, appropriate injections (e.g. into muscles or joints), diagnostic
studies (e.g. EMG/ NCS), use of assistive devices (e.g. canes, walkers,
wheelchairs), adaptive strategies and equipments (e.g. orthotics and
prosthetics) to help our patients minimize pain and maximize functioning. Our
goal is to work together with you to reach your goals.
